Jeremy Crawford highlights the Journey of Real Estate Data Standards From Evolution To Revolution

Todays Spotlight is on Jeremy Crawford, President and CEO of FMLS

Takeaways from Jeremy’s comments at the inaugural International MLS Forum in Paris last year:

  • Jeremy’s multi-decades career started as a data scientist for the banking industry, then as the 16th employee of MarketLinx, next the first CEO of RESO, and now as CEO of privately broker-shareholder owned FMLS
  • He envisions the MLS as more than the source of truth about listing data, but as the trusted provider of other property information essential to serving the needs of consumers (eg, school data, flood zone).
  • As CEO of FMLS, Jeremy views the MLS Board of Directors as a critical asset to running the MLS as a business — think of members in terms of stable, diverse, strong business skillsets and longevity.
  • MLSs are investing more in real estate technology and owning their back-end database.

On another panel at the International MLS Forum event in Paris, Jeremy praises the revolutionary way RESO’s  Web API shortcuts the time for startup companies to access real time data without the previous delays for replication. “Web On The Fly”

As reported in RE Technology, FMLS, the largest MLS in Georgia, and Realcomp II Ltd, the largest MLS in Michigan, signed a data-share agreement March 12, 2024 that brings two significant real estate markets closer together.

Jeremy Crawford, FMLS’ President and CEO, states, “We have been sharing data, services, and best practices with like-minded MLSs across the country, and this is a natural expansion. Through this agreement, our members in Georgia will enjoy direct access to listings in Michigan right inside our local MLS login which they know how to use, while their listings will be exposed directly to all of Realcomp’s licensed professionals. It’s a win-win for both organizations and, more importantly, the consumers they serve.”
