How To List Buyers
The first I heard about Buyer Agency
When I was a young real estate attorney in Honolulu in the 1980s, a broker client informed me that he preferred working with buyers rather than listing sellers. He asked whether it was legal to represent buyers. At first I said NO, because the prevailing thinking back then was that everyone represented the seller, the person paying the commission. None of my research on agency law indicated otherwise.
It turns out that another young broker -– namely Saul Klein along with Bill Carey — was teaching a six-hour continuing education program in California, entitled “How To List Buyers.”
From the course Intro: How to List Buyers is designed to help you successfully and profitably implement buyer listings in your business. You will learn what to say, the forms to use, and the pitfalls to avoid as you practice the leading-edge concept for the real estate industry for the 1990s, listing buyers. See the course handout below.
Saul led the buyer representation movement in California prior to becoming the President of the San Diego Association of REALTORS® in 1993.
